Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Effective: July 14, 2026 · Driven for iOS

Privacy Policy

The short version

Driven keeps your data on your device. Your trips, routes, and garage records are stored locally — they are never uploaded to our servers, sold, or shared. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous, non-personal usage analytics that help us improve the app (described below); it contains no personal information and cannot be tied to you.

Data we collect and how we use it

Location

Driven uses your device's GPS to record trip routes and detect when you're driving. Two permission levels are used:

  • While Using — records location while the app is open, for manual trip recording.
  • Always (Background) — lets Driven detect when you start driving and automatically begin recording a trip, even when the app is not open. This requires iOS background location access.

Location data is processed on your device. Individual location points are stored locally and are associated only with your trips. They are not transmitted to any server. You can disable background location at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Driven. Turning off location does not affect trips you've already recorded; you can still add trips manually.

Trip, vehicle, and expense records

All data you enter — trips, cars, fuel logs, expenses, service records, and notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is never uploaded to a server or shared with third parties.

Data retention: Your trip history is stored on your device for as long as you use the app. You can delete individual trips at any time within the app. Deleting the app removes all data permanently.

Push notifications

Driven can send local push notifications to remind you of scheduled vehicle maintenance (e.g. oil change due). These notifications are generated entirely on-device — no data leaves your device to produce them. You can opt out at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Driven.

App preferences

Settings such as units, currency, and auto-capture preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults mechanism. They are not synced to any external server.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how features are used and improve the app, Driven sends anonymous, aggregate usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider — for example, that an onboarding screen was viewed, an import completed, or the paywall was shown. These signals:

  • contain no personal information and no advertising identifier (IDFA), and never include your trips, routes, locations, vehicles, or any records you enter;
  • are tied only to a random, salted identifier that cannot be reversed to identify you or your device, and are not linked to your name or account;
  • are used solely to measure feature usage and improve Driven — never to build advertising profiles, and never sold.

See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect any personally identifiable information — no name, email, or account.
  • We do not collect crash reports or diagnostic logs.
  • We do not use advertising or ad-tracking SDKs, the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not associate analytics with your identity, or create user accounts.
  • We do not have access to any trips, routes, or records you store in the app — those never leave your device.

Third-party services

Apple handles app distribution, payment processing, map tile delivery, and push notification infrastructure. Apple's services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat validates and manages in-app purchases on behalf of the app. If you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives anonymised transaction data from Apple (not your payment details, name, or location). RevenueCat does not receive any trip data, location data, or personal information from Driven. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

TelemetryDeck provides the anonymous usage analytics described above. It receives only non-personal product-usage signals tied to a random, salted identifier — no trip data, location data, payment details, name, or other personal information. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.

Aside from the services listed above, no third-party SDKs that collect personal data are included in Driven.

Your rights and controls

  • Disable auto-capture — toggle off in Driven's Settings tab at any time. This stops all background location use immediately.
  • Delete trip history — individual trips can be deleted from the Logbook. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all data.
  • Revoke location access — in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
  • Opt out of notifications — in iOS Settings → Notifications → Driven.

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. Because all data is stored locally on your device and we hold no copies of it, there is nothing for us to provide, delete, or port on your behalf. If you have any questions, email driven@aleksandra.tech.

Children

Driven is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and note the change. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
